Sanctuary

For more information about becoming a sanctuary parish and networking with other congregations engaged in the work of accompanying undocumented refugees and immigrants:

Please visit www.sanctuary2014.org to learn more about Sanctuary and how to get involved.  "We are building momentum in cities and states across the US. We are witnessing the rebirth of the sanctuary movement in the US. We are seeing a widespread and growing commitment by faith communities to provide physical sanctuary to immigrants facing deportation."

Please visit IM4Humanity to learn more about the sponsor of our very own EBIIC -- East Bay Interfaith Immigration Coalition.

Thanks to Telemundo for their Sanctuary coverage!

"God is our refuge. All the time. For all people. But especially for those most in need; for those most at risk; for those seeking relief; for those fleeing for their lives." -- Reverend Jeff Johnson, at the Press Conference to declare physical sanctuary for immigrants facing deportation.

"Together we stand with University Lutheran Chapel as a strong network of sanctuary, protection and advocacy for human rights, and the dignity of migrants, so that not one more parent, not one more child, not one more grandparent, or loved one is ever deported."

-- Reverend Deborah Lee

"I don't know as people of God how we can respond differently. We're going to shelter people who need shelter, and we're going to welcome them as one of us -- human beings who have a right to safety and liberty."

-- Pastor Max Lynn, St. John's Presbyterian Church

How To Find Us

We are located near UC Berkeley campus at the corner of College Avenue and Haste Street (a one-way street).

On public transit: Take BART to either Rockridge or Downtown Berkeley. The 51B picks up at both and stops directly in front of the Chapel.

By car: Street parking is limited in the area, but the Underhill Parking lot is just across the street and parking (fee) there is usually ample.
